The Ssese Islands are a stunning archipelago located in the northwestern corner of Lake Victoria, the world’s second-largest freshwater lake. The archipelago consists of 84 islands, with 43 inhabited. The largest of these is Buggala Island, located in Kalangala District, approximately 32 miles southwest of Entebbe on the Ugandan mainland.

The Ssese Islands offer a variety of activities for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike, including sport fishing, bird watching, hiking, and nature walks. You can also enjoy primate viewing, take relaxing boat rides, or explore the scenic beauty of the islands, which are lined with beautiful palm trees. Whether you’re seeking relaxation or adventure, the Ssese Islands provide an idyllic escape into nature.

Day 1: Arrival & Ferry to Ssese Islands


After breakfast, your driver will take you to Nakiwogo Landing Site in Entebbe, where you will board a ferry at 2:00 PM for a scenic cruise across Lake Victoria to Buggala Island. As you glide over the water, enjoy the fresh breeze and the stunning views of the islands, with opportunities to spot various bird species. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and unwind on the beautiful sandy beach. Enjoy a relaxing dinner at your accommodation.

Day 2: Nature Walk & Island Activities


After a delicious breakfast, set out for a nature walk through the island’s virgin tropical forest, where you may spot Colobus monkeys and various bird species. Stop for lunch in Buggala Island Town. In the afternoon, embark on a boat ride around the islands. You can enjoy sport fishing or relax with a sunset viewing on the water. Return to your lodge or hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Return to Entebbe


After breakfast, take a morning ferry from Lutoboka to Entebbe, departing at 8:00 AM. Your driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel or drop you off at Entebbe Airport for your departure.
