Kampala, the vibrant capital city of Uganda, is nestled among seven hills and sits at an elevation of around 3,900 feet. Located in the southern part of the country, just north of the stunning Lake Victoria, Kampala offers a rich blend of history, culture, and modern life.

Some of the city’s top attractions include the King's Palace, the beautiful Bahai Temple, the insightful National Museum, the historic Old Kampala Mosque, and the serene Landing Sites along Lake Victoria. You can also visit the Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, the UNESCO-listed Kasubi Tombs, the Ndere Cultural Center, and Lubaga Cathedral. For a taste of local royalty, don’t miss a visit to King’s Lake.

Day 1: Explore Kampala’s Heritage

After breakfast, your driver will pick you up from your hotel for a journey through the city’s rich cultural landmarks. Start with a visit to the King’s Palace, the ceremonial residence of the King of Buganda, where you’ll learn fascinating stories and cultural traditions. Continue to Kabaka’s Lake, the largest man-made lake in Uganda, created by Kabaka Mwanga.

Next, visit Bulange Building, the parliament of the Buganda Kingdom. Afterward, stop for a delicious lunch featuring traditional local dishes.

In the afternoon, explore the historic Namirembe Cathedral, offering a stunning panoramic view of the city. Then, head to Old Kampala Mosque, built with the assistance of Muammar Gadhafi. To conclude your day, enjoy an evening of cultural performances at the Ndere Cultural Center, where you’ll experience the diverse dances of Uganda. Afterward, return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.'

Day 2: Lake Victoria & Historical Sites

Start your day with a drive to Ggaba Landing Site, the largest landing site on Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest freshwater lake. Explore the vibrant market, take a boat ride on the lake, and observe the traditional fish preservation methods. Enjoy a fresh Tilapia lunch right from the lake.

In the afternoon, visit the Uganda Museum, where you can learn about African history and culture. Continue your tour to Makerere University, one of Africa’s most prestigious universities, established in 1922. It has produced numerous influential leaders and scholars. End the day with a relaxing return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

 

Day 3: Spiritual & Wildlife Exploration

After breakfast, begin your day with a visit to the only Baha’i Temple in Africa, surrounded by beautiful botanical gardens and home to many species of birds. Next, head to the Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, a sacred site where 22 young men and women were martyred by King Mwanga for their faith. The shrine has been visited by three reigning Popes, making it a significant place of pilgrimage.

In the afternoon, visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Center (Entebbe Zoo), a sanctuary for rescued and endangered animals. Established in 1952, this zoo offers close encounters with wildlife and birds, set against the picturesque backdrop of Lake Victoria. After your visit, head back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
