Ngamba Island is situated on Lake Victoria, approximately 23 km southeast of Entebbe. This peaceful island serves as a semi-natural sanctuary for 49 orphaned and rescued chimpanzees, offering a safe haven through the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust. Besides the chimpanzees, the island is also home to other wildlife, including fruit bats, fish eagles, butterflies, and monitor lizards.
Ngamba Island is easily accessible by boat from Entebbe, making it a perfect day-trip destination for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. Activities on the island include chimpanzee trekking, bird watching, fishing, and guided forest nature walks.
Day 1: Chimpanzee Sanctuary & Nature Walks

After breakfast, you will drive to Entebbe, where you will take a scenic boat ride to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, home to over 40 orphaned chimpanzees rescued from poachers.
Enjoy a guided nature walk through the island's lush forest, where you'll have the opportunity to spot over 120 bird species, butterflies, and other fascinating wildlife. Afterward, you'll enjoy a delicious lunch before embarking on chimpanzee trekking and feeding at 2:30 PM.
Relax on the shores of Lake Victoria in the afternoon, keeping an eye out for more birdlife and enjoying the serene surroundings.
Day 2: Return to Entebbe

After breakfast, take the boat back to Entebbe. From there, you will be driven back to your hotel or dropped off at the airport for your onward journey.
