Located about 6 hours from Kampala, Mount Elgon sits on the Uganda-Kenya border and is known for having the largest volcanic base in the world, covering 4,000 km².

The mountain is home to over 300 bird species, including the rare Lammergeyer, as well as wildlife such as savanna elephants, antelopes, and buffalos.

For those who enjoy hiking, the Wagagai Peak (4,321m) offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes and local communities. With its diverse flora and fauna, Mount Elgon is a great destination for nature and adventure enthusiasts.

 

Day 1: Journey to Mount Elgon

After breakfast, depart for Mount Elgon National Park in Eastern Uganda. Enjoy the scenic drive, passing through Mabira Forest and beautiful sugar plantations. Stop for lunch in Jinja before continuing on to Mount Elgon. In the late afternoon, check in at your lodge and unwind, preparing for your adventure the next day.

Day 2: Explore Sipi Falls

​

After breakfast, head to Sipi Falls, a stunning waterfall located at the base of Mount Elgon. The falls provide breathtaking views and are surrounded by picturesque landscapes. Enjoy a village walk and explore local coffee plantations. In the evening, relax at your lodge and enjoy dinner with views of the falls.

Day 3: Hike to Wagagai Peak

​

Embark on a guided hike to Wagagai Peak (4,321 meters), where you’ll experience the panoramic views of Mount Elgon and its surroundings. Along the hike, spot a variety of bird species, including the rare Lammergeyer. After the hike, return to the lodge for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.

Day 4: Return to Kampala

​

After breakfast, enjoy a visit to the Nyero Rock Paintings before heading back to Kampala. Stop for lunch in Jinja, and upon arrival in Kampala, we’ll transfer you to your hotel or the airport for your departure.
